After seven years supporting the very best unsigned and unseen young musicians, Diesel:U:Music kick off their most exciting and innovative year yet with the launch of Diesel:U:Music Radio.

'Diesel:U:Music Radio covers everything we really value - music, community, DIY spirit and new ideas. It's about smart, creative people, whether they're established artists or bedroom DJs, in New Cross or New York, showcasing their unique view on the world and doing it with passion. And it's going to make amazing radio." The Diesel:U:Music team

Diesel:U:Music Radio will be broadcasting from 4th to the 30th May, from its base at The Amersham Arms in New Cross. The station will be on air 24 hours a day and available locally on FM radio and globally via the internet. Driven by the same spirit of innovation, discovery and creativity that has made Diesel:U:Music such a force to be reckoned with, D:U:M Radio will be devoted to all that is great about music and the art, design, fashion and culture that surround it. Expect a wealth of original programming from presenters, artists, bloggers and journalists you have heard of, as well as from a host of talented young people taking to the airwaves for the first time: whether 5-minute audio diaries, in-depth documentaries, or live sessions from The Amersham Arms. D:U:M Radio will be reaching out to the next generation of creative young people and filling the airwaves with passion, personality and attitude.

"Most of our first album was written in New Cross so it has a special place in our hearts and a radio station based there gets our full support." The Klaxons

Diesel:U:Music is all about giving young talent a leg-up, and D:U:M Radio offers plenty of opportunity to get involved. Based in New Cross, D:U:M Radio is slap bang in the middle of one of London's most diverse, creative and energetic environments, and to bring those qualities to the heart of the station they have recruited eight young, local, people looking to make their first into the media. In conjunction with locally based organisations LIVE Magazine and Eclectic Productions, Diesel:U:Music will put these eight young people through a professional eight-week radio broadcasting course, after which they will cut their teeth in the D:U:M Radio studio and benefit from an ongoing mentoring programme when the station comes off air.

"We've had an amazing time since winning the Diesel:U:Music award last year and we're looking forward to getting involved this year. There are some fantastic people lined up for D:U:M Radio and we can't wait to meet some of them down at The Amersham" Stefan Abingdon, The Clik Clik

D:U:M Radio will be making the most of it's HQ at The Amersham Arms with a series of live events that will encourage listeners to come down and be part of the action. With artists including Simian Mobile Disco, Florence & The Machine, Benga, The Little Ones, Riton and past D:U:M Award winners The Clik Clik already confirmed to be involved, and many more talented individuals coming on board by the day, your radio isn't going to leave the D:U:M frequency in May.

Diesel:U:Music Radio is just the first of many new ventures for D:U:M in what promises to be their most exciting year yet. Stay tuned...
